USGS Type AA Ice Current Meter

The USGS Type AA Ice Meter is a variation of the standard Type AA meter.  It is used to measure water velocity beneath ice.  The yoke is modified to eliminate the tailfin assembly, making the unit small enough to fit in an 8 inch (20 cm) augered hole.  The AA-Ice meter can be used with the ice rod or the USGS Tilting Harness assembly for use with a 30 or 50 pound sounding weight.  The meter uses the standard AA rating table.
